Safety & Trust

Care you can trust in your home.

YolanCare is Canada's marketplace for verified in-home caregivers. Every caregiver goes through identity, credential and criminal-record checks — and we give you the tools to stay safe every visit after that.

How every caregiver is verified

A "Verified" badge on YolanCare is not a marketing label — it means these checks have been completed and reviewed by our trust team.

Identity verification

Every caregiver applicant confirms their legal name and date of birth against government-issued photo ID before their profile can be published.

Criminal record & vulnerable sector checks

Caregivers submit a Canadian criminal record check, and — where applicable — a vulnerable sector check. Results are reviewed by our trust team before approval.

Credential & licence verification

For regulated professions (RN, RPN, PSW), we verify the caregiver's registration with their provincial college or regulatory body before showing that credential on the profile.

Signed Independent Caregiver Agreement

Caregivers agree in writing to our Community Standards, code of conduct, mandatory reporting duties, and anti-off-platform-transaction rules before taking bookings.

Safety tips for every visit

For families

  • Read the full profile, credentials, and recent reviews before booking.
  • Meet by video or in a public place before your first in-home visit.
  • Do a walk-through of the home together and agree on tasks in writing.
  • Keep valuables, medications, and financial documents secured.
  • Never share banking details, one-time codes, or payments off-platform.
  • Trust your instincts — you can end a booking early if something feels off.

For caregivers

  • Share your schedule and the client's address with a trusted contact.
  • Bring your phone and keep it charged; know the closest emergency exit.
  • Confirm scope of care in writing before starting shifts.
  • Refuse tasks that fall outside your scope of practice or licence.
  • Never accept cash-only work or off-platform payments — you lose our protections.
  • Report unsafe conditions or harassment to us immediately.

Protections built into the platform

In-app messaging

Keep every conversation on YolanCare so we can help if a dispute arises. Off-platform contact removes those protections.

Honest reviews

Only families who have completed a booking can leave a review. Caregivers cannot edit or remove their own ratings.

Secure payments

Payments are processed by Stripe — no cash, no e-transfers, no shared card numbers. Refunds follow our published policy.

In an emergency

If someone is in immediate danger or needs medical help, call 9-1-1 right away. YolanCare is not an emergency service and cannot dispatch first responders.

For suspected elder abuse in Ontario, contact the Seniors Safety Line at 1-866-299-1011 (24/7, confidential).
