Trust starts with knowing who is coming into your home. Here's exactly what our verification program covers — and, just as importantly, what it does not.
Every Caregiver must complete a government-ID verification step with our verification partner before their profile is published. This confirms that the person creating the account matches the ID they submit.
Where a Caregiver lists a professional credential — RN, RPN, PSW, First Aid/CPR, etc. — we ask for documentation and, for regulated professions, verify status against the relevant Canadian registry (e.g. the College of Nurses of Ontario public register).
Caregivers who complete the optional criminal record check submit a police information check or Vulnerable Sector Check appropriate for the province they work in. The check is conducted through an accredited Canadian provider and displayed as a verified badge if clear.
Verification badges reflect information current at the time of verification. Criminal record checks are typically re-verified every 24 months, and credentials are re-verified on renewal cycles. Caregivers must promptly update expired documents.
Caregivers consent to identity, credential, and (where applicable) criminal record checks when they join YolanCare. The underlying documents — government ID, background-check reports — are held by our accredited verification partners and are not made public. Families and other users never see the underlying documents; they see only a verification status and badges on the Caregiver's profile. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal information.
If you have safety, credential, or verification concerns about a Caregiver on YolanCare, please email trust@yolancare.ca. For emergencies, call 911.
